Fatshion February, day 28: The witch in the enchanted palace

On Saturday, I went out with my brother and Steve for a dinner at Max Brenner, an awesome chocolate-themed restaurant. On the way there, we stopped at the Fairmont Copley Plaza to visit Carly the adorable pup and take a few outfit pictures. I wish I could take outfit pictures in a fancy hotel every day…

Fatshion February, day 21: Purple and black

My friend Maggie and I always match. I don’t even know how we do it. We never coordinate our outfits in advance, but we always end up wearing similar color schemes. On Saturday, when I had a few people over to hang out and watch Star Trek and Firefly, we were both wearing black and purple.

Halloween OOTD: the Queen of Darkness

plus size goth witchy halloween costume

I’ve been feeling particularly goth-y lately, so I decided to dress up as a witch for Halloween. While looking for my velvet burnout shawl, I found a mesh poncho that worked really well as a veil–which turned the costume into more of a goth bride or a queen of darkness.

Dressing up for Halloween reminds me that I feel so much more myself when I’m wearing what most people would consider a costume. I loved walking around in this get-up; the only problem was that the shawl kept slipping off my shoulders, and pulling it back on without messing up the veil was tricky. Continue reading

OOTD: Adventures in an enchanted forest

On Saturday I went hiking with a few friends through the spectacular mid-October foliage. Since I’ve been so into dark mori and witchy goth looks lately, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to dress up in dark layers. (No, I didn’t stay dressed up for the whole hike–it was unseasonably warm, so I ended up taking off both my skirts and most of my jewelry and just hiking around in shorts. I also brought sneakers to change into.)
