OOTD: Purple, black, and a glitter bow

Purple and black is my default cold-weather color combination. They just go together so well, and have such a fall/winter feel.

Shirt: Marshall’s, sweater and necklace: Target, skirt: Deb, leggings: American Apparel, shoes: Naot, hair bow: Crown and Glory

I love wearing my Crown and Glory glitter bows both because they’re a lot of fun, and because they literally always get compliments. When I wore this outfit, I got compliments on my bow from one of my coworkers, and three of the people making the burritos at the place I went to for lunch! It’s nice to know how many people appreciate glitter. 🙂

OOTD: Friendship is magic

It’s no secret that I love My Little Pony. And I also love Art Nouveau, so I’m a big fan of combining them.

Halloween Fun

Honestly, I was kind of lazy this year. I’ve had more creative costumes, like the time I was a Freudian slip.

I put together a cupcake-loving unicorn costume using my pink Domino Dollhouse petticoat, We Love Fine Pinkie Pie cupcake t-shirt, a cupcake sweater that a friend gave me as a birthday present last year, and a unicorn horn headband from Sick for Cute. I was also wearing cupcake socks, but they looked weird over my leggings, so I ended up putting them underneath.

Steve’s costume was even easier, but more awesome: Captain Hammer!

We sat out on the front porch giving candy to kids, including an adorable baby pirate! I love seeing little kids all dressed up. 🙂

Volup2 Fundraising and Photo Submissions

Want more awesomeness like this? Donate!

I recently received a press release about Volup2‘s new fundraising effort. I mentioned their Kickstarter in my Friday links roundup two weeks ago, but they’re so awesome that I’ll give them another mention. Please donate if you can, or at least pass along the word to your social networks.

Also, did you know you can now submit photos and artwork for consideration in future issues? I’ll definitely be coming up with something to submit.

How I learned to stop worrying and love skinny jeans

As I’ve written about before, I’m not the biggest fan of skinny pants, and in fact prefer my jeans at the opposite end of the width spectrum.

But I’ve given into the trend recently. Twice. (Shock! Horror!)

Because it turns out that the awesomeness of floral print and purple corduroy outweighs my aesthetic preference for wider legs.

My gateway drug was these floral jeans from H&M. So many flowers on my legs! How could I resist?

Weekly wishlist 9/11/12

This top is steampunktacular. It only goes up to 1X(18-20), and I’m not sure whether that would fit me, but I hope it would. I need more steampunk in my life.

Flashback: old-school Torrid

I recently came across a coupon I had printed out from when Torrid first opened:

Remember when Torrid was actually alternative?

I love the little cartoon girls representing goth, raver, glam (?), punk, and rockabilly styles. Continue reading
