#FatshionFebruary, day 25: spring-y casual

Some days I don’t feel like putting together a capital-O outfit, or even wearing makeup or jewelry (hair accessories excepted, of course). Today was one of those days.

Dress and yoga pants: Target, bolero: clothing swap, flower crown: Gardens of Whimsy, slippers: Snoozies via some store in Northampton whose name I forgot (they are super-comfy, and I highly recommend them, but they run about a size small)

#FatshionFebruary, day 24: potential wedding guest dress

I ordered this dress from eShakti as a potential candidate for wearing to my cousin’s wedding in May. Based on the sizing chart, I bought it in a size 24, which is one size larger than I wear in most brands–but it’s still too tight. Booo, weird and arbitrary clothing sizing. So I’m going to return it, but in the meantime I had to get some pictures, because I love how it looks on me.

It’s out of stock right now, but if/when it comes back I might order it in a 26, without sleeves (because the sleeves/shoulders are particularly tight, and might be too tight even in a larger size), and possibly with a different neckline. I do appreciate that eShakti gives so many customizing options, even though I’m annoyed at their sizing.

If it doesn’t come back into stock, I’ve got my eye on a few ModCloth dresses, and I also have this dress (which is, weirdly, a size 14–go figure) as a backup.

Dress: eShakti, jacket: Kohl’s, shoes: Naot (I took these pictures with my tripod, and realized afterwards that I cut off my feet in most of them…oops!), fascinator, wristband, and necklace: So Good, earrings: Faces, bangles: Deb and Torrid

I love dancing at weddings, so twirliness is an important quality to look for in potential wedding-guest dresses. This one definitely passes the test! šŸ™‚

#FatshionFebruary, day 19: Lagenlook in pink and coral

The inspiration for this look was the spring collection of Gudrun Sjoden, a Swedish brand that I found through Already Pretty and am quickly developing a style-crush on.

Pink and orange dress: Marimekko (!) via thrift store, coral dress: SWAK via clothing swap, cardigan: Old Navy via the Big Thrifty, gauchos: eBay, socks: Sock Dreams, sneakers: Simply Be, necklace: present from a relative, earrings: from a gift shop in Israel

#FatshionFebruary, day 15: Cuteness as self-care

Sometimes self-care involves wearing the most comfortable clothing possible (i.e., sweatpants and a t-shirt), not bothering with makeup, and not giving a shit about how I look. Other times, it entails playing dress-up to cheer myself up.

Saturday was one of the times. I went for the boldest, brightest, cupcakey-est outfit I could come up with. And yes, I wore it to sit around the house reading a book and playing around on the internet.

Dress and leggings: Domino Dollhouse, shoes: Sugar Shoes via eBay, sweater: ASOS (straight size 14), bow: The Velvet Village, necklace: Kuma Crafts, earrings and rose ring: Claire’s, pink bangles: Deb Shops, rainbow bangle and rhinestone wristband: So Good, Lucite ring: H&M, hot pink eyeshadow: Manic Panic, Lisa Frank tote bag: gizmo2choco

#FatshionFebruary, day 14: love and tutus

Valentine’s Day was really, really hard. Not for the typical reasons that people struggle with the holiday (and that I’ve dealt with in the past), but because it was my surprise! last day of work. Yes, it was shitty timing to have my last day on a holiday that’s supposed to be all about love, flowers, chocolate, and wearing pink.

But it was also a day full of love: both the traditional romantic kind, and the kind I got from my coworkers. I can’t even write this post without crying, because they’re wonderful and I miss them.

Top: Old Navy, tutu and socks (and possibly headband?): Target, leggings: American Apparel, shoes: Naot (I wore sneakers to work, but changed for my outfit pics), necklace: So Good, earrings: Betsey Johnson via eBay

#FatshionFebruary, day 3: keeping it pink at work

Top: thrifted, pants: Target, earrings and necklace: Lithia’s Creations, hairclip: H&M

This is pretty much my typical work uniform: yoga pants, sneakers, a top that’s vaguely nicer than a t-shirt but not so nice I would mind staining it, hairclip/fascinator, necklace, and earrings (but no rings or bracelets because they would get in the way). The shirt is a bit big on me, but for work, I don’t really care.

My lunch break is too short to take outdoor pictures with a tripod, hence the bathroom mirror selfies. I wish the lighting and background were better, but what can you do? Continue reading

It’s time for Fatshion February again!

Hand-dryer selfie at Arisia.

How did it get to be February already?

That means it’s Fatshion February time, which means daily (or as close to daily as I can get myself to do) outfit posts. I still haven’t decided whether I’ll post my outfits here first, then cross-post them to my Tumblr, or vice versa…but one or the other, they will eventually end up in both places. If you want to see my Fatshion February pictures from last year, you can find them here.

I still have a bunch of recent outfit posts to catch up on, so I’ll try to post some of those as well. (And posts about the two awesome clothing swaps I went to last weekend, and Arisia, and all sorts of other stuff….I have like 25 million things I want to write about, and I just need to sit myself down and do it.)

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s outfits!
