Outfit August, day 31: floral extravaganza

Sometimes people wonder why I wear ginormous flowers on my head all the time. The day trip I took to Shelburne Falls yesterday confirmed the two main reasons: it makes me feel more like myself, and it gets positive reactions from people everywhere I go.

I figured I’d wear my biggest flower crown to visit the Bridge of Flowers–because when in Rome, dress like the scenery, right? I got so many compliments from strangers, and even had two different people ask if they could take my picture. I love when random people want to photograph me–it makes me feel so famous. 🙂 And in general, I love fa(t)shion as a conversation starter: a way to have small positive interactions with friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike.

While out and about on Friday, I ran into my puppy friend Mika, who is literally the most adorable fluffball ever. She even has her own Facebook page!

After the beach, Steve and I went to my brother’s housewarming party. I didn’t really feel like getting dressed up but I did anyway, and I’m happy with how my outfit came together.

For the evening of my birthday, I went to a party held by my friend Emily, who was visiting from out of town. I went full-out girly-punk both in celebration of my birthday and because I knew that Emily, as a fellow punk-clothing-lover, would appreciate it.

After my awesome day of merriment on Saturday, the birthday festivities continued with brunch on Sunday. I like having celebrations spread out across an entire weekend so that I get a chance to see as many friends as possible, and it was lovely to see a few friends on Sunday who hadn’t been free the day before.

Of course, I went all out rainbow-pink-colorful, because why not?

Outfit August, day 16: birthday party extravaganza! (picture-heavy)

Tomorrow is my 29th birthday! 😀 I celebrated over the weekend with my traditional combination of beach-going, dinner, and an evening party. I’m putting the pictures a bit out of order (dinner, beach, then party) because this amazing dress needs to be at the beginning of the post.

The nice thing about owning lots of shiny things is that when you’re in a hurry and digging through the clothing and accessories strewn all over your floor, you can grab a few random shiny, neutral-ish items and look like you planned your outfit in advance.
