Outfit August, day 12: pretty pastels
The life of a fatshion blogger is so hard. I just had to go to one of my favorite cupcake places to find the perfect background for this outfit. š

This dress is really short–even on someone as short-legged as I am–hence the skirt underneath.Ā I really like how they go together, and it felt vaguely superpower-ish to have hidden unicorns under my dress.

This dress…this dress is everything. It reminds me of Desigual, one of my top “arrrghhh why don’t you come in my size” brands. I’m really, really into the multi-patterned look, which seems to be a European thing, and it’s hard to find in American clothing. Continue reading

I got this dress at an impromptu mini-clothing swap that a friend held recently. She’s moving into a new house, so she decided to give away some of her old clothes to anyone who wanted to come over.
When I first saw the dress in a pile, I thought it looked just like another dress I already have, so I didn’t even bother trying it on. But after one of my friends tried it on and found it didn’t quite work for her, I decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did. I don’t usually love dark blue, and I’m not a big fan of high-low hemlines, but this dress is so much more than the sum of its parts. I love how it looks on me, and it’s super-comfortable–a great basic summer dress. Continue reading

Clothing swaps are the best. I’ve gotten so many great dresses from them in the past year or so. And this one in particular is so me.Ā I love that it has a bit of ruching and a slightly tulip-y hem–it’s those little details that make such a difference. Continue reading

OOTD: My sort-of fatkini
I’ve been looking for a fatkini for a while, and I haven’t been able to find one–most of the ones I come across are either halters, high-waisted, or just not my style. Ā But while I was looking, I found this Swimsuits For All*Ā tankini set, which does show a stripĀ of midriffĀ if I adjust it the right way. I’m such a sucker for dark florals, and it also has really cute pink bows on the sides.
I wore it to a lake today, and I am happy to report that it was comfortable and fun to wear. It was the first time this summer I’ve made it out to go swimming, and I’m so glad I did. There’s nothing like being in the water on a hot day. š
