OOTD: Casual goth

While getting ready for brunch over the weekend, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear a t-shirt or go full-out goth. So I ended up doing both, and I’m really happy with how the outfit came out.

I see Cloak & Dagger around town at various festivals and conventions, and I really appreciate that they always carry plus size items. There’s nothing like being able to try on fun pieces of clothing in person.

Last year at Arisia, I bought a gorgeous green velvet Renaissance gown from them. I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I hope I will soon! Continue reading

OOTD: Seeing stars

Red and leopard print is a classic combination that I just can’t stop wearing. I wore this outfit to a friend’s Pacific Rim-themed birthday party, which was a lot of fun. There was even a cake with a Kaiju (for those who haven’t seen the movie, they’re basically giant sea-monsters with a Godzilla-like propensity for stomping on cities) coming out of it, and “Kaiju sushi” made of Rice Krispie treats covered in blue Jell-O.

I think I might like Domino Dollhouse…just a little. 😉

OOTD: Summoning spring

Lately I’ve been operating under the theory that if I wear a lot of florals, it’ll make spring come. That’s how weather works, right? 😉

I wore this outfit for a short nature walk over the weekend, where there was plenty of snow but also plenty of sun. We also saw a few cute dogs, including a tiny lab/husky mix puppy with one blue eye and one brown eye!

OOTD: Green and floral

I love the print on this blazer–it reminds me of an oil painting. The dress is a recent clothing swap find which has become a staple of my winter wardrobe. It’s so comfortable, and the green, leafy pattern is both muted enough to feel winter-appropriate and a reminder that spring is coming.

Brand crush: Gudrun Sjoden

four women in multicolored gudrun sjoden outfits

Ever since I found them through an Already Pretty post, I’ve been madly in love with the Swedish clothing brand Gudrun Sjoden. The gorgeous patterns, the bright and happy color combinations, the folk art influence, the skillful layering…I just love it all.

I also love that, unlike other European brands I’ve fallen in love with (*cough cough* Desigual), Gudrun Sjoden makes clothes in my size. They carry up to a size XXL/22-24, and I’ve heard their sizing runs large. Many of their items look loose-fitting as well, so I have a feeling that people who wear sizes above 24 could fit into at least some of their pieces.

Gudrun Sjoden has a store in New York, which I meant to check out over Valentine’s Day weekend. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it there, but I’m hoping to go there next time I’m in the city. I’d love to be able to try on the pieces in person, especially since they’re so different from the types of clothes I usually wear.
