If I get a car, you’d better believe it’ll look like this.
-In an act of sheer badassery, a Wisconsin news anchor takes down a viewer who bullied her for her size. She is my new hero.
-The Fat Nutritionist on the stereotype that fat people are all binge eaters.
–It’s been a tough week for fat kids in the media.
-An absolutely epic gay wedding in a children’s museum. With a carousel. And two adorable grooms wearing floral suspenders. Seriously, this is just made of awesome. Also, now I want to move into the Please Touch Museum.
–How to make a tutu. I do have to quibble with the assertion that “…a tutu probably isn’t something you’d wear every day,” though.
-Also from Rookie, behind the scenes at Meadham Kirchhoff’s Spring/Summer 2012 show in London. I love that so much of it was inspired by Courtney Love. I used to have some of the same pictures on my teenage bedroom walls–I wish I still had them. Also, the fluffy coats and feather skirts at the end of the slideshow are amazing.
-A great overview of Health at Every Size.
-Similarly: a wonderful, comprehensive Fat Acceptance 101 post (by a pink-haired lady, no less!)

The window display at So Good, my go-to jewelry store
-DIY: Pretty little pom-pom clips (love the “riot grrl” one!)
-Speaking of riot grrl, I just read Girls to the Front: The True Story of the Riot Grrl Revolution, which is a fascinating history of the movement.
-In other book news, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is AMAZING. The story is inspired by unusual vintage photos that the author found and included as illustrations. I love that kind of idea, and the story itself is brilliant and haunting.
–Fried chicken for every family, and other myths of Southern food – a really interesting read, as a New Englander who hasn’t spent much time in the South.
–The myth of male decline -Stephanie Coontz is the best.
–Behind the scenes of a Lime Crime photoshoot. Wherever this is, I want to move in. Lavender + unicorns = perfection.
-An interesting theory on the appeal of Law & Order: SVU (to which I was addicted for two years or so in college).
–HAES Matters: Dieting, disease, and weight (part 1)
–Eat, Travel, Oppress: Travel discourse and imperialist nostalgia
–Home decor lessons from Burning Man – this is all pretty awesome, especially the hot pink fuzzy couch!
–It Gets Fatter: Fat queers of color take on fatphobia
-The latest brilliance from Elodie: Smash Bad Science: The case of the pink berries and the hammer of human history
-On the problems with breast cancer “awareness” month
-Awesome DIY idea: paint chip bookmarks. I need to do this–I have so many random paint chips floating around.
And now, for your random Europop fix/fashion inspiration, here’s a music video my brother sent me. The outfits are pretty amazing.
